June 22 it is the peak of the light and the official beginning of summer, so let’s move our bodies with joy! I love feeling strong, and having that feeling coming out of my core, so let’s focus on quick core stabilizers and strengtheners to get our Monday rolling. Today’s tabata is all about the core; 4 core exercises, 2 rounds each, for a total of 8 rounds (each round is 20 sec work, 10 sec rest) or 4 minutes. The core exercises are leg lifts, abdominal bicycles, bridges and planks. Kettlebell enthusiasts can do a tabata of 2 rounds each of planks, russian swings, side bend and dead lifts. After either tabata, you should feel strong and stable to go through your day. Self care activity of the day is to cover your body with coconut or other edible light oil. Rub the oil in and pat dry before putting on your clothes. Oiling our skin helps protect it from drying and cracking. Coconut oil is an excellent choice because it has sunscreen properties as well as antibacterial properties, and it is a cheaper and better alternative than using lotions with chemicals we can’t pronounce. If it is edible, it is safe to put on your skin. Mainly it just feels really good. Happy Monday!
