July 28 and it’s time to tone up our Tuesday with quick tabata of planks. You can do the same plank through all 8 rounds of 20 second holding the plank and 10 seconds of resting, but I am suggesting we do plank variations for each round. Round 1, top of the push up plank; round 2, top of the push up plank with right arm up, round 3, top of the push up plank with left arm up;round 4, right side plank; round 5 left side plank, round 6, top of the push up plank with right leg up; round 7 top of the push up plank with left leg up; round 8, front of the elbow plank. Throughout the whole workout, remember to keep breathing well. Keep your core braced and your gluteus muscles engaged. Be aware of both the front and back of your body working to hold you in a straight line with your spine neutral and neck in line with your spine. Kettlebell enthusiasts can substitute or add a tabata of goblet squats, remembering to corkscrew your feet into the ground and keep back straight and spine neutral throughout move. Start squats with your hips and bottom moving back and keep knees behind toes the whole move. Self care tip of the day is to tell someone who you really cherish and love that they matter to you and that the world would feel less inviting without them in it. Bonus points for telling someone who you aren’t often so vulnerable in your communication. Attending to the relationships that matter to us is a form of self care, especially when it is done with healthy boundaries and love.
