July 31, Friday, let’s not freak out, instead let’s do a simple and fun tabata of 4 exercises: squats, lunges, side lunges, planks: two rounds of each exercise. A tabata is 8 rounds total=4 minutes. Each round is 20 seconds of intense exercise, doing as many exercises as you can while keeping proper form, followed by 10 seconds rest. Our packed Friday can get off to a great start with this quick and effective all over toner. 4 minutes sounds just right today, but when we have more time there are lots of ways to make the workout harder. One way is that we can make the work part of the round longer, say 30 seconds to a 10 second rest, or even 45 seconds with a 15 second rest. We also could do each exercise as it’s own tabata ( so 8 rounds of squats, etc) and do 4 tabatas total which would make our workout take 16 minutes. Remember to tailor these workouts so they work for you! Self care tip of the day is to try to get a glimpse of the rare blue moon that is happening tonight, the first since August 2012. Another one will not appear till 2018. A blue moon does not necessarily appear blue, but refers to the moon being the second full moon in a solar calendar month, or when there are four full moons in a season, then the third one is called a blue moon. This blue moon is both. Think of that one lovely thing you have been meaning to do “once in a blue moon.” Let’s see if we can harness the intense energy of the full moon for something positive and special.
