August 22 Made it to the Weekend

August 22, yesterday I woke up feeling tired and wondering sarcastically who’s bright idea it was to do a tabata of burpees.  I obviously knew it had been my idea, but it sounded hard. Nevertheless, I went outside, got my tabata timer going, and thought about the good advice the article I had linked to in my post gave which said, “just pace yourself, don’t rest”. I tried to stay very focused on the move at the moment and not thinking ahead.  The four minutes did go by~ not very quickly,  but they did go by. Afterwards I felt so much better.  I felt energize and woken up. So if you joined me yesterday in the tabata of burpees, I hope you also got a good boost of energy!  For me it set up the start of a positive day. Let’s do a fun tabata for our Saturday: 2 rounds squats, 2 rounds lunges, 2 rounds planks, 2 rounds leg lifts. Each round is 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds of rest x 8= 4 minutes total tabata. If your have a little more time and want a bigger challenge you can do two tabatas, one with 4 rounds of squats and 4 rounds of lunges, and a second with 4 rounds of planks and 4 rounds of leg lifts.  If you have even more time and want a big challenge, you can do 4 tabatas: 1) 8 rounds of squats, 2) 8 rounds of lunges, 3) 8 rounds of planks, and 4 ) 8 rounds of leg lifts. This powerhouse workout will take you 16 minutes if you go straight through.  Pick the workout that works best for you! You are always the expert of your own body, and the author of your own life story! For your self care boost be outside in nature for at least 20 minutes and extra points the more beautiful and serene your environment.  Being outside in beautiful wild places is  medicine for the soul.  Attend to your soul and also try to get some vitamin D. If you can be in sunlight for 10 -20 minutes without sunscreen or with  suncreen of an spf of under 8 that will allow your body to absorb vitamin D from the sun.  Sunshine is the best source of vitamin D. A little sunshine therapy can both lift your mood and  increase your energy, all while helping you feel more relaxed.
