August 23, Sunday, and if you have been reading my thrive fitness blog at all you know that I emphasize a day of rest and today is that day. Proper rest is a way to restore you to yourself; and keep yourself healthy. Some days a nap might be as healing as a workout. But rest can be active too, if it is active fun: a walk, hike, swim, dancing, jumping rope, riding bikes, wake boarding, yoga, etc. Just let yourself keep it fun and do-able so that your fitness discipline is something that is sustainable through out your whole life. Life is full of constant change and flux and so our fitness routines need to fit with our life. A system that doesn’t rest fully might be challenged to exert itself fully, and a system that never exerts itself fully might never be able to rest. So we want to create rhythms that fit our needs. So if Sunday is good day for you to work out hard, by all means do it!! You are the expert of your body’s needs. This Tuesday I am offering a new series of kettlebell classes at Ekah Yoga Studio at 615 N. Fairview, which was the old location for Mukti yoga, by the b-line. Check out all their amazing yoga classes and member options at their website: ekahyoga.com or at their Ekah Yoga facebook page. You can schedule classes right from the website using a mindbody connect app on your smart phone. If you have trouble I can sign you up or you can sign up when you come to the first class. Also first class is free, to see if it is right for you.
