August 25, Tuesday, and tonight I am offering a chance for you to try out kettlebells for free. Kettlebells are magical tools for reaching and maintaining fitness. They have been life changing and life supporting for me. I want to spread the kettlebell joy! Proper use of kettlebells can improve your strength, your flexibility, your eye hand coordination and your stamina. But don’t take my word for it here are two articles by the American Council of Exercise where they share very impressive studies about the use of kettlebells: http://www.acefitness.org/acefit/expert-insight-article/47/3233/kettlebells-kick-butt/ and https://www.acefitness.org/acefit/expert-insight-article/47/2982/kettlebells-twice-the-results-in-half-the-time. Please check them out. At the Ekah Yoga Studio, which is located at 615 n. Fairview, at 5:15 pm I will offer an intermediate kettlebell session: 30 minute warmup, workout & walkout for folks who know how to use kettlebells and want to work out with a group and keep proper form. Then at 6 pm, I am offering am hour long beginner kettlebell class, which will include a warmup, instruction of safe use of the kettlebells, then a quick workout to integrate what we learned. These are the beginning of a class series but you can try to first class for FREE to see if it works for you. For today’s workout, do either a tabata of front lunges or kettlebell swings. 8 rounds of 20 seconds of work, and 10 seconds of rest. If you choose the lunges you can either alternate back and forth between sides each time or do 4 rounds on the right and 4 rounds on the left. For your self care activity today let’s try to learn something new…if it works with your schedule, perhaps, how to swing a kettlebell?
