November 30 Movement Lift for Your Monday

I find that moving my body is a way to lift my mood.  The Monday after a holiday can be a tough time to feel upbeat.  Hopefully this little workout will give us a lift for our Monday.  Warmup with 30 seconds of helicopters and 30 seconds of windmills followed by 30 seconds of jumping jacks and 30 seconds of high knees.  Then do a tabata (8 sets, 30 seconds each: 20 seconds work and 10 seconds rest) of lunges or one arm kettlebell swings, alternating sides.  For the helicopters you stand with your feet hip width apart and twist your torso at your waist, letting your arms twist like helicopter propellers. For the windmills you stand with feet hip width apart and then bend forward and alternate touching right hand to left toe and left hand to right toe so that your arms look like a windmill. For the jumping jacks you clap your hands above head as you jump out.  If jumping is hard, just step out.  the high knees is like running in place but focus on getting the knees up high. The whole workout should only take you 6 minutes but you should feel alive and pumping.  Continuing my daily gratitude for the month of November, today I am grateful for movies and all forms of entertainment.  I am grateful for all the imagination, talent, and science that goes into making it possible for me to experience a whole world from my couch. I am grateful for the term “vegging out” and all that it implies.
