December 23: Day 23 of the Squat & Plank Challenge

Day 23 and our challenge is getting challenging! 65 squats & 210 second plank!  Hang in there, team! We can do this!  Do your best but don’t hurt yourself.  This is to empower us and strengthen us… so lets’s keep our priorities straight.   I have had fun doing the loving kindness to friends and family during my last plank.  I have a video picked out to watch during the next plank.  For me, mental distraction helps.  I  also sometimes will try a plank variation when I can’t stand to be still anymore.  So even though the plank variations tend to be harder than the regular planks, sometimes just changing position helps.  So I will put my right arm up for say 30 seconds and then put it back down a put up the left arm for 30 seconds somewhere during  the longer plank.  So far, I have made it through but it is not the worst thing in the world if we can’t.  Just rest for a second or two and try to finish up.  As far as the squats go, you can divide them into sets if you need to.  The other day I did feel tired and slow and yet if I went straight through the squats and the plank it still only took 5 1/2 minutes.  This feels tough but it is over quick and what a bonus for your body!  My friend Joe DeCroes’s higher power, ” Big Al” would say, ” Your life works when you do.”
