December 31 New Year’s Eve Rest & Play

December 2015 was the Thrive Squat & Plank Challenge, which stated innocently enough with 20 squats and a 20 second plank but grew to 100 squats and a 5 minute plank at the end. Today is a rest and play day! If you made it through even part of the challenge, you should be proud of yourself.  I managed to get it done because the time commitment was so low, I could always find a moment and a way to fit it in.  I think lots of you broke the squats into sets and the plank into sets.  That’s cool if you did.  I tried to do it all straight through yesterday and watched D’Angelo’s “Brown Sugar” in live at Montreux 2000  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdOpYOn2DwQ   for distraction and inspiration.  I was shaking and sweating when I was done.  Wow. We got this done during one of the busiest months of the year.  We took care of ourselves in a simple and yet effective way.  We stayed on course and didn’t let ourselves go during the time of feasting and partying. Celebrate your victory with some restorative rest and some fun play!  You deserve it!  Think of something that is symbolic of your  accomplishment.  Reward yourself!   I have been grateful for Joe’s quotes to add a bit of wisdom to the posts this month and I will finish out the month with one of my all time favorite quotes of his, “The answer is change your mind.”  Funny how many questions that is the answer! Have a Happy New Year!
