It is Day 5 of the 21 days of squats challenge by one of my kettlebell heros, Lauren Brooks. This woman impressed me so many years ago when she posted a video of her doing a Turkish get up with a 50 pound kettlebell while her young toddler played in the background. Right away I knew she was my type of woman. Her form is spot on and her recommendations are clear and precise. If you haven’t yet watched her videos on form then please check them out. Yesterday, I wasn’t feeling very good so I was dreading the challenge and didn’t get it done in the morning as is my routine. Luckily for me, my good friend Robb wanted to workout. It is amazing how much it helps top have a friend to workout! My daughter even joined in and together we managed to do joint mobilizations for about 20 minutes, then we did a tabata of russian kettlebell swings, a tabata of dead lifts and side bends, and then did the goblet squats which I actually did with the #25 kettlebell because I forgot I was using a 20 # bell this week. It is amazing how much a buddy helps you get through. So if you need a buddy to workout with you can join me tonight at Ekah yoga for a 30 minute warmup and workout with the kettlebells at 6:30. Also tonight is the start of the new beginner kettlebell class from 5:30-6:30 tonight at Ekah yoga, 615 N Fairview Dr. No experience or equipment necessary. Day 5 of Lauren’s challenge is 40 squats: this can be body weight or weighted squats, and I am doing 40 goblet squats with my 20 pound kettlebell.
