Day 26 of our 29 days of tabatas and today is our last tabata of just squats. For our tabata you get 8 sets to practice your squats: with each set being 20 seconds of as many proper form squats as you can muster, then a 10 second rest for 4 minutes total. A tabata of squats is an exercise of great use and function: squats are a valuable part of our daily movement, can be done anywhere without any equipment, they tone our bottoms and core, help our balance and coordination, and if done right, protect our joints! Learning how to do a proper squat is a game changer in life. If you fear squats or worry about your joints when you do squats, I hear you and I want you to feel totally right about what you are doing because You are the expert of your body and your life journey! I feel strongly that squats are necessary for proper pelvic floor and joint health but sometimes we need to start slow. I am sharing Katy Bowman’s blog , “you don’t know squat” which has some pre squat prep. http://nutritiousmovement.com/you-dont-know-squat/ If you don’t feel comfortable doing the squats, use your tabata today to practice her warming up to the squats exercises. Katy Bowman’s site has lots of ways to get your body more flexible and ready for squats plus ways to work with knee or hip replacements. Happy Friday! Tomoorow is the big day of the challenge and then we are almost done. I hope you are feeling strong and powerful as we head toward Spring!
