Day 11 of our self care challenge and I am feeling very blah…it is gray and slightly cold, I have a ton of work to do, and very little zip to my step. It seems counter intuitive, but I have found these blah days are the times I need to push myself with a workout to get myself moving. So I drew myself a hot bath as a reward and started slowly. I did very slow proper form push ups, 5 then 5 then 4 then 3 then 3 for a total of 20. Then I did 25 deadlift squats with a 40 pound kettlebell. Then 25 swings with the same kettlebell. Back to 25 deadlifts, then 25 swings. Then 10 side bends on each side. 25 leg lifts and 25 bridges, then a one minute plank. I watched a sexy fun video in the background to inspire and distract me and finished by dancing out the last bit of the song. I truly felt better,and then fully enjoyed my hot bath! Challenge yourself to move and remember that being strong is for you! Forget working out to look a certain way or to please others…work out for your own pleasure, strength and feeling of well-being. Work out for you: your own mood and your own feeling comfortable in your own skin. A simple plank and a few squats can do wonders!
