Every year May ends up being a super busy time for me. Whenever I am crazy busy that is when I notice that I start to fall off of my self care routines. When I am stress is when I need my self care the most, but I often feel like I am obligated to do other tasks first. Day 10 and I am determined to stay on course for my 30 days of exquisite self care, so I am looking for ways to turn my tasks into self care treats. When I visited Amsterdam this Spring, I was so blown away by how serious the biking is there. Literally, everyone bikes. I saw old ladies biking that you would never even imagine being on a bike in America. It seemed efficient, effective, and less stressful. The city was less chaotic without so many cars. I promised myself I would bike more when I got home. Biking is better for the earth and is good for me, because it really gets my heart rate up and gives my legs a good workout. What I didn’t realize is how much more fun and truly less stressful getting to work would be. It takes me half as long to get to work ( a little longer to get home as it is uphill), and there is no parking stress or fees. I notice all the beauty of the emerging spring and I get a nice bit of fresh air. The biking becomes a lovely way to get myself moving but it is also meeting the task of being my commute. I look forward to the commute and I know I got some exercise in. I love turning an unpleasant task into a nurturing self care ritual. Where could your tasks become your treat?
