Today’s self care was truly radical:sun bathing in Florida. My need for sun was real, as was an offer to go to the Florida Keys. I had never been to the Keys…and today it felt so good to see the bright Florida sunshine. I got up with the sunrise and spent the day soaking in the rays and reading a book, “When Breath Becomes Air” by Paul Kalanithi. Funny how reading an incredibly moving book about death can help you feel very alive. The sunshine felt like medicine. My body had been craving the vitamin D, and as the sun kissed my skin it felt so delicious and I could feel my pituitary perking up. I truly bathed in the light. Generally I can’t lay too long in the sun, but with a good book and steady breeze it was so pleasant to just lay there and soak it all up. I needed to relax fully and the sun was my helper. I hope your self care today was as restorative for you.
